Ooltewah man killed, wife injured in Watts Bar Lake boating accident

An Ooltewah man was killed Saturday when his family boat ran aground near Blue Springs Marina on Watts Bar Lake in Roane County, according to the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency.

Don Campbell, 55, was pronounced dead at the scene from crash injuries by the Roane County medical examiner. The incident occurred just before 6 p.m., a news release states.

Campbell's wife was injured and flown in critical condition to UT Medical Center in Knox County, where she was listed Sunday in stable condition in the intensive care unit, TWRA spokesperson Mimi Barnes said in the release. A child on board was taken by ambulance to UT Medical Center and released to family members.

The family of three ran aground in a 23-foot, cuddy cabin Chaparral boat.

The incident remains under investigation, according to the TWRA.
